Basalt, a type of volcanic rock, is the most popular type of stone used in hot stone massages due to its exceptional holding properties for heat and its smooth, non-porous surface. The high iron content of basalt also supports the treatment of blood vessel diseases.

 

During the massage, the therapist uses the warm stones as an extension of their hands, applying gentle pressure and gliding the stones along the body to provide a soothing and relaxing experience. The heat from the stones penetrates deep into the muscles, helping to release tension and improve flexibility. The use of the warm stones also helps to increase the flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body, promoting a sense of balance and well-being.

Pre-massage stones are:
1. Carefully washed.
2. Placed in a special stone heater and heated up for approx. 30-45 minutes.
3. Stones should have a temperature of around 47-50°C.

Stones after massage are:
1. Washed and disinfected.
2. Soaked in salt water at the end of the day for 20 minutes.
3. Dried and greased with natural oil.
4. After cleaning, stored in a special wooden container intended for this purpose.
